Rabbi Nataf’s New Volume on Shemot Published
(30/12/2009)
The Cardozo Academy, in conjunction with Urim Publications, has just released Redeeming Relevance in the Book of Exodus: Explorations in Text and Meaning by DCA Educational Director, Rabbi Francis Nataf. In this new book, Rabbi Nataf uses his literary awareness and profound knowledge of text, Midrash and commentaries to come up with refreshingly original readings of some of the major stories in Exodus. The centrality of exile and alienation, national memory, the significance of clothing and how to relate to the “other” are only some of the topics that he discusses via the Biblical text’s treatment of Moshe, Moshe’s family and the Jewish nation as a whole. The book is adorned with an insightful preface by Academy Dean, Rabbi Dr. Nathan Lopes Cardozo. As with his earlier volume on Genesis, this book is already receiving critical acclaim. While copies are still making their way to bookstores and Amazon, they can already be purchased by contacting the Academy office at office@cardozoschool.org or through the website http://www.cardozoschool.org/books.asp
